The well-known Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, reported recently on May 10 that the World Cancer Research Fund has again emphasized the need for children to consume at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day to avoid the risk of cancer.
In the Dutch article entitled “Kinderen Moeten Vijf Keer Per Dag Fruit En Groente” [trans. “Children Must Have Fruits & Vegetables Five Time Per Day], a WCRF nutritionist, Nathalie Winn, declared that only about 20% of children around the globe actually eat sufficient quantities of fruits and vegetables. This is of particular concern according to Ms. Winn since healthy eating habits should be taught to children as early as possible for these to be consistently implemented into adulthood.
According to De Telegraaf report, cancer experts agree that such a “Five Times per Day” diet significantly lowers the risk of various cancer types, with colon cancer a notable example. Statistics showed that five to fifteen year old children in Great Britain achieved on average a daily dietary intake of just slightly above 3 servings per day. Yet, alarmingly, almost 7% of the British youth don’t consume any fruits or vegetables at all!
In the USA, however, the Center for Disease Control reported in 2007 that amongst American adults only approximately 32.6% of the U.S. adult population surveyed consumed fruit two or more times per day, and just 27.2% ate vegetables three or more times per day.
So, how much is 5 servings approximately as a measurable quantity?
The World Health Organization defines the daily consumption requirement as a minimum of about 400 gram or approx 14 ounces.
Somewhat surprisingly, of the more than 120 responses by readers to the Dutch news article, the vast majority expressed great concerns and resistance to the WCRF recommendations. The most common responses were:
1. fears that modern fruit and vegetable production uses far too many harmful chemical pesticides and herbicides which might in fact increase the risk of cancer
2. concerns about the high cost of fresh fruits and vegetables to the family budget and,
3. the difficulty of getting kids to eat so much fruit and especially green vegetables.
Recognizing at least one of these concerns, the WCRF has created the Great Grub Club web-site where parents can find creative suggestions on how to make healthy eating more fun and tasty. Yet the fact remains that presently most people are simply not coming close to a “5-A-Day” standard nor an adequate daily exercise routine – and as a result, they will experience deficiencies in their health and wellness.
Reading the article, I am fully convinced that at MannaLife International we are miles ahead of the global nutritional dilemma described above. Let me explain how the MannaLife International modular nutrition system effectively addresses all of these typical responses.
Firstly, while we do not pretend to replace the importance of fresh whole fruits, vegetables, and berries, we do realize that the vast majority of people are just not able to get the variety and quantity of Nutrient-rich live whole foods in their diet.
Our Flag-Ship core product, the MannaFeast contains a unique blend of over 170 natural ingredients including the premium whole-food juice powders of over 52 fruits and vegetables, more than 22 different types of living active probiotics, as well as seeds, active enzymes and trace minerals. Looking at the ingredients list you will find that the most abundant fruits that you find in the MannaFeast are Acai berries, Goji / Wolfberry, Noni and Mangosteen; recognized as containing the highest naturally obtainable anti-oxidant (ORAC) values. When was the last time you encountered these exotic fruits in your grocery store’s produce section?
Secondly, while not every ingredient in the MannaFeast is at present of Certified Organic origin, as often as possible, we try to utilize organic ingredients in our product blends.
As stated in MannaLife International’s FAQ’s: “Because of the extensive variety of produce and fruits we use in our blends, it is not always possible to acquire everything as certified organic. We do carefully scrutinize our sources to make sure we are getting the highest quality and freshest possible produce available. We continue our ongoing efforts to increase the Certified Organic ingredients in MannaFeast and other MannaLife Products.”
In fact, the Vice-President for Product Formulation at MannaLife International, David Uri LeBaron, is extremely well recognized as a pioneer in the field of wholefood nutrition and has for decades owned his own huge organic farm that comprises 1000’s of acres (even hectares!) west of the American Rocky Mountains.
Uri is therefore very passionate about organic farming and the benefits of growing food from the perspective of a healthy, well-balanced soil and picking the produce at its optimum ripeness. In fact, Uri developed a proprietary drying process whereby the juice of the produce is dried in less than 2 minutes at temperatures under 104 F (less than 40 Celcius). Thus there is NO need to pick the fruit under-ripe to meet the modern demands of long-distance transport and extended shelf-life.
The MannaFeast therefore is able to capture the maximum effective yield of fully ripe fruit and vegetables in terms of vitamins, amino acids, essential fatty-acids, anti-oxidants, minerals and other complex bio-organic ingredients !
In the MannaFeast Uri LeBaron has applied over two decades of experience to create a blend that really combines the best fruits and vegetables in a combination that is perfectly balanced for a delicious tasting nutrient dense super-juice. Being in a convenient powder form, it is easy to add to water to make your own desired concentration of juice and, being a powder, MannaFeast is not pasteurized and is free from any preservative. Everything is ALL NATURAL and the MannaFeast does not contain any isolated, synthetic or inorganic vitamins and minerals.
Lastly it is very easy to attain a daily target of five servings of fruits and vegetables with one scoop of the MannaFeast.
And the COST … ? ….
Well, by becoming a MannaFeast Business Associate you are able to purchase the MannaFeast for as little as $40.- per can and at 30 scoop-sized servings means that any person can have all this goodness for under $ 1.50 per day!!
